A long term Commitment with Brazil
Brazil is considered a pivotal country for Total global growth strategy. The potential of the oil and gas reserves, such as the Libra field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, the abundance of natural resources, in addition to the known expertise of local human resources are very attractive to our long-term investments in the country.
Total is present in Brazil through five affiliates. Total E&P do Brasil operates in the Exploration & Production sector, and has a broad and diversified portfolio, composed of 15 offshore blocks, mainly focused on deep offshore. The company’s main assets in the country are the Libra field, in the pre-salt area – Total is part of the consortium with 20% interest – and the five operated blocks in Foz do Amazonas Basin. In 2016, Total sealed the Strategic Alliance with Petrobras to promote technical cooperation between both companies. The alliance aims to strengthen technological cooperation among the areas of operation, research and technology; combine experiences that are worldwide renowned on upstream and downstream segments, and reduce risks and leverage potential business.
Total Lubrificantes rises in the local market with a complete range of products for the automotive, industrial and agricultural segments. Total Gás & Eletricidade takes part in important projects in the national gas sector, such as Gasoduto Brasil-Bolívia.
In the Refining & Chemicals segment, Hutchinson is a global specialist in sealing systems for several industries, such as automotive and aerospace. Lastly, in the segment of Renewable Energies & Power, SAFT offers energy storage solutions that meet all needs, from a few kW to several MW. Total also holds an 18% interest in Amyris, a U.S.-based biotechnology company.
