The Total group started its presence in Brazil in 1975. We now operate through five affiliates in the country in the Exploration & Production, Gas, Marketing & Services and Refining & Chemicals segments. In the New Energies segment, Total holds a 18% interest in Amyris, a U.S.-based biotechnology company. The Group has more than 2,500 professionals committed to better energy in Brazil.

A long term Commitment with Brazil

Brazil is considered a pivotal country for Total global growth strategy. The potential of the oil and gas reserves, such as the Libra field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, and the local market perspectives are very attractive to our long-term investments in the country.

Diversified activities

Total E&P do Brasil operates in the Exploration & Production sector, and has a broad and diversified portfolio, composed of 17 offshore blocks, mainly focused on deep offshore. The company’s main assets in the country are the Libra field – Total is part of the consortium with 20% interest – and the five operated blocks in Foz do Amazonas Basin. Total Lubrificantes rises in the local market with a complete range of products for the automotive, industrial and agricultural segments. Total Gás & Eletricidade takes part in important projects in the national gas sector, such as Gasoduto Brasil-Bolívia.

In the Refining & Chemicals segment, Hutchinson is a global specialist in sealing systems for several industries, such as automotive and aerospace, and Atotech develops specialty chemicals at its Technology Center located in Taboão da Serra (SP), such as solutions for surface finishing and electronics. In the New Energies sector, we operate in Brazil through the U.S.-based biotechnology company Amyris which develops aviation biofuel from sugarcane.
